Rwandan Amethyst: What I Like About It

Rwandan Amethyst: What I Like About It

Hi, I’m Chandler.

Rwandan amethyst is the stone I go to when I want deep purple with good saturation and clarity. The rough I get from Rwanda has that rich violet color that doesn’t look washed out or grayish like some other sources. It’s natural — no heat treatment, no dye — and when you cut and polish it, the color stays true all the way through.

I usually start with rough rock because that’s how I can see what the stone actually has inside. You can spot the good pockets of color and clarity before committing to a cut. The pieces that make it to pendants or earrings end up different every time — no two rough chunks behave exactly the same, so every finished stone has its own look.

For me it’s less about “healing” hype and more about the fact that it’s real, untreated material from a specific place. The purple is bold without feeling fake, and it holds up well once set.

If you’re looking for something with that deep Rwandan color, check the pieces I have listed right now. They sell out when I finish them.

Thanks for reading. More when I have new stuff to show.
